Family and Community Support Services
About FCSS
The overall objective of FCSS is to develop locally driven, prevention-based social initiatives to enhance the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities. These initiatives must align with the provincially mandated outcomes based on legislation and regulations. Throughout FCSS’s nearly 40 years in the Hinton community, a key objective has been building community and creating a sense of support and belonging for residents.
Provincial Preventative Mandates
Hinton’s FCSS department designs services in alignment with the four mandates for prevention-based programming as outlined by the Province of Alberta:
1. Homelessness
2. Poverty
3. Domestic Violence
4. Mental Health
Wellbeing & Resiliency Framework
FCSS also factors in the Wellbeing and Resiliency Framework. This provincially designed framework sets out the objectives for family and children-based programming, including:
1. Child Development and Well-being
