Good to know:

  • Water meters are mandatory
  • The meter and installation are FREE during this project
  •  Appointments are available evenings and weekends

Starting Spring 2026, water use will be billed by volume—so keep an eye out for our weekly water‑saving tips to help you save money!

How to Read Your Meter

Have you had a water meter installed? Now you can start tracking your water use!

To activate the meter screen, lift the lid to let in light. If the screen is off, use a flashlight. The display will cycle through several screens automatically. Key screens you may see are Water Consumption (00000.0000m³), Water Temperature (00.0 °C), Flow Rate (0.00 lpm). Find out more about what these numbers mean at hinton.ca/engage.

Understanding your meter helps you monitor water use and detect unusual activity early.

FE Replacement

A New Freedom

Hinton’s Freedom Express bus is experiencing mechanical issues, and Council has decided the bus needs to be replaced. Getting a new bus will take a few months.

While we wait, the Edson Seniors Transportation Society has generously loaned us one of their buses (see photo). We’re deeply grateful for their support and community spirit. This temporary bus will begin serving Hinton residents on Feb. 3, 2026.

We expect the new Freedom Express bus to arrive around May 2026. Find out more about our Freedom Express service at www.hinton.ca/transit.
