FIRE BAN REDUCED TO RESTRICTION – Town of Hinton

June 4, 2019

Effective today June 4, 2019, the Town of Hinton has reduced its Fire ban to a “Fire Restriction”
 
NO open burning is permitted and all fire permits are still revoked.
 
The use of backyard fire pits as per the Town of Hinton Fire Bylaw #1097, barbeques and outdoor fireplaces on residential property and in the town campgrounds is permitted.
 
This is only for the Municipality of the Town of Hinton and we urge everyone to uses extreme caution as conditions are still high.

WILDFIRE SITUATION | June 2, 2019

Edson Forest Area

Since March 1, 2019 there have been 44 wildfires in the EFA that have burned approximately 275.83 ha.

Provincial Update:

There are currently 24 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. 7 are out of control, 3 are being held, 10 are under control and 4 have been turned over to the responsible parties.

Since March 1, 2019, Alberta has recorded 539 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta that have burned a total of 577,341.90 hectares.

Fire danger rating: mainly moderate to low in the province with some high to locally extreme in the boreal forest.
