Action Items

AMSC Energy Agreement Extension
Council authorized the purchase of electricity and natural gas for the final two year term (2017-2018) through AMSC at a fixed rate through the wholesale market.
 
Replace Utility Truck Unit #21
Council approved replacing Utility Truck Unit #21 for a total of $46,370 due to safety and mechanical issues.
 
Replace Ladder Truck Unit #23
Council approved purchase of a demo ladder truck for a total of $1M due to the end of its 25-year life cycle.  This vehicle will be cost shared at 50% with Yellowhead County.
 
Fire Bylaw #1097
Council gave first and second reading to the proposed fire bylaw.  At this time Council did not want to pass third reading as they want to obtain more public feedback.  Changes to the bylaw include new permitting requirements for recreational fire pits.  If citizens want to have a fire pit on their property, they must obtain a site inspection to ensure compliancy with the bylaw.  The proposed cost for the permit is a one-time, non-transferable fee of $25.00.  It is anticipated that this bylaw will come back to Council for third reading at the August 18, 2015 regular council meeting. Fireworks Bylaw #1098
Council gave first and second reading to the proposed fireworks bylaw.  At this time Council did not want to pass third reading as they want to obtain more public feedback.  It is proposed that possession and use of fireworks within Town limits will be restricted to certified Display Supervisors or Pyrotechnicians.  It is anticipated that this bylaw will come back to Council for third reading at the August 18, 2015 regular council meeting.  Citizens wishing to provide feedback to Council, can do so by contacting Community Peace Officer Ryan Alice, by email at bylaw@hinton.ca or by phone at 780-865-6009 before Monday, August 10, 2015.
