Municipal Election 2017

On Monday, October 16, 2017, residents of the Town of Hinton will elect a Mayor and 6 Councillors.

Around the province, and here in the community, election preparations are taking place as we near the end of our current Council's tenure. For most, this means starting the process of evaluating potential candidates and the impacts they may have on the community. For others, it may mean evaluating whether they would like to make that impact themselves.

To help promote this essential democratic process, The Town of Hinton has begun sharing information and preparing opportunities for residents and potential Councillors to learn more about the community, the election process, and deadlines and dates pertaining to the election.

You can learn more about the process on our Town of Hinton website for the election, available here, or by reading below and following the links.

For Candidates

A Candidates subpage has been established on the Town of Hinton Elections website. It has information and links to ongoing projects, the Municipal Government Act, The Local Authorities Election Act, nomination day, and more. Visit it here.

The Town of Hinton has also connected with a recognized expert on Municipal Governance to host an information session in the community. Check the image below for details.
