Pitch-In With Mayor Mackin

With a new layer of snow, Pitch-In with the Mayor will be delayed to later in the week.

The Town of Hinton is asking residents to consider getting involved in the spring cleaning of our community during Pitch-In Week. The annual event gets underway April 22, running until the 29, and any resident, business, team or group is encouraged to take part.

Every year, during the week, Hintonites are asked to volunteer an hour or two to help clean up. The Town will support you in doing it, providing gloves and garbage bags (which are always available, year round, if the garbage picking mood strikes) at the Infrastructure Services office. Employees are also available to pick up any garbage you gather, with just a phone call to the ISB office (780-865-2634) for the bags’ location. We have staff trained and ready to help residents deal with any possibly bio-hazardous material you may come across, so there’s no need to compromise your safety to help clean up our town.

Everyone has a role to play in making Hinton the best it can be. We have achieved great things on the backs of the caring and dedicated volunteers that help make change through our many non-profits, but those volunteers are no more or less essential than those who make the time to do something as simple as picking up a couple of pieces of litter on a morning walk. This is a great opportunity to take a walk out in your community, stretch out after a wintery season full of Netflix marathons, and make a positive effect on those around you.

You can even register your pitch-in week activities on the Pitch-In Week Website, and use the hours to count towards the #150for150 Challenge (find out more about the Challenge here)

We’re all Hinton Proud—keeping our town clean is just one way to show it.
