Learn Life-Saving Skills During National Drowning Prevention Week

July 15, 2025

NDPW is Just Around the Corner

The Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre Pool will be filled with activities designed to teach life-saving water safety skills in a fun and accessible way.

One of the highlights of the week is the Swim to Survive Challenge, taking place on July 23. This nationally recognized program teaches the essentials of surviving an unexpected fall into deep water. Participants will practice rolling into deep water, treading for one minute, and swimming 50 metres. Those who complete the challenge will receive an official Swim to Survive certificate.

In addition to the challenge, the pool will host a variety of other themed activities throughout the week. From colouring sheets and awareness materials to safety-focused engagement for families, there are plenty of opportunities to learn and participate.

The Town of Hinton invites you and your family to join us throughout the week and help make water safety a shared priority in our community.
