Emergency Services in Hinton, including the Town of Hinton, RCMP, Hinton Fire and Hinton Search and Rescue are conducting a comprehensive exercise.
A simulated incident is being enacted, leading to a coordinated response involving all emergency services. The exercise is designed to test and enhance the preparedness, communication, and response capabilities of our emergency services in a controlled manner.
This event is a simulated scenario and does not pose any threat to residents.
This message is a test of Town of Hinton communication systems.
The Town of Hinton has been advised of a (simulated) wildfire incident (mock) affecting residents and visitors in the area outlined on the attached map and described below within the Town of Hinton’s of responsibility.
South boundary: Reimer and Fairfax Drive / North boundary: Emerson Drive
East boundary: Collinge Road / West boundary: Robb Road
All persons within the defined area may choose to voluntarily participate and evacuate to the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre on Switzer Drive. If you choose to participate, please follow all directions from emergency personnel.
Members of the RCMP, Hinton Search and Rescue and other agencies will be canvassing the test area to expedite those who choose to participate, and distribute FireSmart information to those who don’t.
Those who choose to take part in the exercise are asked to register with (simulated) Emergency Social Services at the determined Reception Centre located at the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre on Switzer Drive.
The (simulated) Town of Hinton Emergency Operations Centre is open and providing support to the (simulated) Emergency Social Services centres and other emergency responders.
In real emergency, the Town of Hinton would establish a public information line for information related to an evacuation.
