May is Mental Health Month
May 2, 2025
The Town of Hinton is proud to participate in Mental Health Week, taking place from May 5 to 11, 2025, by offering a series of free online Lunch & Learn sessions with Recovery Alberta to promote mental well-being and foster open conversations about mental health.
This year’s national theme, “A Call to Be Real,” invites people to reflect on how they may be masking their true feelings, especially at work, and to consider the value of unmasking and speaking openly. The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) emphasizes that while masking may help people cope in the short term, over time it can lead to stress, disconnection, and burnout. Mental Health Week is a chance to reduce stigma, share lived experiences, and build supportive, inclusive environments.
