Public Transit Service Enhancements Effective Feb 1, 2025

The Town of Hinton is excited to announce significant updates to its Public Transit System, informed by insights from the 2018 Dantec Transportation Study and the 2024 Public Transit Survey. Feedback revealed strong community support for extended service hours and improved route efficiency, and these updates will take effect starting February 1, 2025. 

The enhancements bring notable benefits to riders, including extended morning and evening service hours for greater convenience, alongside streamlined routes that reduce travel times by removing or relocating underutilized stops. These adjustments reflect community feedback and aim to deliver a more efficient, user-friendly transit experience.

Key service updates include:

• Reduced Route Times: The current one-hour bus loop will be shortened to a 40-minute schedule, providing more frequent service and reducing wait times for passengers.
• Streamlined Bus Stops: Some stops with low usage have been removed to improve route efficiency and maintain the new shorter loop time.
• Adjusted Service Hours: Services will now operate Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with no service on Sundays or statutory holidays.

This initiative demonstrates the Town’s commitment to meeting community expectations by reducing wait times, improving accessibility, and delivering a better overall transit experience. By addressing resident concerns, the Town expects increased ridership, additional revenue, and continued service sustainability.
