Edson and Yellowhead County Evacuees
May 6, 2023
18:30 Update @ Rec Centre
The Town of Hinton may lose power, along with Jasper in the next 5-10 hours.
We are prepared to shelter evacuees here for 24 hours following any power outage.
For evacuees who stay at the Recreation Center, we will provide meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) shelter, and transportation, if you do not have your own.
All evacuation orders issued by Yellowhead County and the Town of Edson are still in place, so you cannot go east at this time. Again, at this time there are no fires threatening Hinton. We are moving to provide services for 24 hours following any power outage.
The best course of action for all evacuees, in preparing for a power outage, is to fill up on gas and collect all supplies you may need (such as groceries, pet food, and medicine). For those staying at the Recreation Centre, we are equipped to help support you to have a restful night and a good breakfast to set you all up for success tomorrow.
For all evacuees who do not have their own transportation, including those who were at the Recreation Centre who are now billeting or who are not staying at the Recreation Centre, please register for transportation by calling 780-865-6034.
