Citizens' Minute with Council


Residents are welcome to speak to Council about issues, events, celebrations or concerns during Minute with Council. At the beginning of each regular Council Meeting, Mayor Michaels opens the floor to the public to speak and share with Council members, administration and meeting observers.

Delegations

Presentations are required to be arranged through the Executive Assistant so that presenters can be sure time is set aside for their presentations on the Council agenda. Find out more about how to be a delegation by following this link.

Action Items


1. Appoint Council Representation to the FCSSAA
Council appointed Mayor Michaels and Councillor Race, with alternate Councillor Haas as Town of Hinton representatives to the Family and Community Support Services Association of Alberta.

2. Trail Connectivity Plan
Council approved the Trail Connectivity Plan Phase 1 as presented and directed Administration to undertake public and stakeholder engagement and return the Trail Connectivity Plan to the July 25, 2023, Committee of the Whole meeting with the results.

3. Hardisty and Switzer Drive Water & Sanitary Upgrade
Council increased the Capital Budget of Hardisty and Switzer Drive Water and Sanitary Upgrade project by $350,000 to a new total of $2,700,000 with funds coming from CCBF or MSI grants.

Councillor Maguhn: Attended the Hinton & District Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards Gala.

Councillor Haas: Attended the Hinton & District Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards Gala. Spoke to projects conducted by Hinton Youth Advisory Council.

Councillor Taylor: Not present.

Councillor Race: Attended the Peterson Papers Party at Hinton Municipal Library. Brought attention to the Town of Hinton's Four Steps to Prep brochure and Guide to E-bikes brochure.

Councillor LaBerge: Attended Hinton Homelessness Task Force Meeting and the Hinton & District Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards Gala.

Minute with Council Access

With public health restrictions now lifted, members of the public are invited to join Council in-person for Minute with Council during Regular Council Meetings. 

The Town is also continuing to offer virtual access to this session. Please use this form to receive an invite code to join our proceedings remotely.

During Minute with Council residents are welcome to speak to Council about issues, events, celebrations or concerns. The floor is open at the beginning of the meeting to the public to share with Council members, Administration and meeting observers. To ensure this time is constructive and welcoming to those participating and those present, the guidelines to the public for Minute with Council are,
  • Keep your discussion to no more than one minute in length;
  • Speak directly to the Chair of the meeting when addressing Council;
  • Refrain from asking questions of Council or Administration, as this is not intended to be a Q&A session; and
  • Speak respectfully, as the use of abusive, insulting or aggressive tone or language will not be tolerated.
