Stingrays Swim to Success at ProvincialsApril 18, 2023 The Hinton Stingrays swam to success at the 2023 Alberta and Northwest Territories Pool Lifesaving Championships in Camrose, Alberta, on April 1 and 2. More than 300 swimmers from across the province competed in events that tested their athletic ability with?lifesaving skills and rescue equipment – and the Stingrays came home with 25 medals. The Town also acknowledges Peyton Tomko, Danika Mercer, Connor Mackay, and Kenzie O’Regan for participating in the Junior Lifesaving championships, as well as Madison Testo, Teigan Rusk, Hayden Amundrud, and Jabez Kim for participating in the Senior Lifesaving Championships. Alexa McEachern, Aquatics Supervisor for the Town of Hinton, said, “The Hinton Stingrays swimmers made the community very proud by showing the progress they have made throughout the season and demonstrating great sportsmanship. By participating in Junior Lifeguard Club, they are also making the community a safer place.”

The Hinton Stingrays is the Town of Hinton’s Lifesaving Sport Program, Junior Lifeguard Club (JLC). This club is for youth ages 7-18 interested in active living and having serious fun. JLC members are encouraged to develop skills based on personal best in swimming lifesaving sport, fitness, knowledge leadership and teamwork.
