Citizens' Minute with Council


Residents are welcome to speak to Council about issues, events, celebrations or concerns during Minute with Council. At the beginning of each regular Council Meeting, Mayor Michaels opens the floor to the public to speak and share with Council members, administration and meeting observers.

Delegations

Presentations are required to be arranged through the Executive Assistant so that presenters can be sure time is set aside for their presentations on the Council agenda. Find out more about how to be a delegation by following this link.

1. Hinton Youth Advisory Council gave a presentation on the work they have been doing.

Public Hearing


None.

Action Items


1. Metal Silhouettes Design Public Consultation
Council endorsed the selection of icon designs for the Metal Silhouettes Capital Project identified by the Hinton Youth Advisory Council with at least one (1) icon representing each of the recommended themes as presented.

2. Cemetery Fees Bylaw No. 796-5 Schedule A
Council split the fees for burial casket to $800 for winter and $800 for summer, and fees for urn burial to $425 for summer and $425 for winter. Council gave first and second reading to Bylaw No. 796-5 as amended.

3. Hinton Golfing Society Operating Budget
Council approved the Hinton Golfing Society’s 2023 Budget as presented.

4. Budget for the Finishing Mower Deck Capital Funding
Council approved an additional $5,410.00 to the 2023 Capital Budget for the Finishing Mower Deck Project, with funds coming from the Parks & Trails Major Reserve.

5. Hinton & District Chamber of Commerce Signature Events Sponsorship Request
Council approved a Platinum Level Sponsorship of the Hinton and District Chamber of Commerce 2023 Signature Events at $1,800 with funds coming from the 2023 Council Contingency Fund.

6. Wild Mountain Music Festival Sponsorship Request
Council referred the WMMF festival request to the Community Grant Program, with it return to a regular Council Meeting if ineligible.

7. Foothills Recreation Management Association Agreement
Council approved the 2023-2025 Services Agreement with the Foothills Recreation Management Association as presented.

8. Hinton Historical Society Agreement
Council approved the 2023 Services Agreement with the Hinton Historical Society for provision of services at the Northern Rockies Museum of Culture and Heritage as presented.

Councillor Haas: Congratulated the Timberwolves on their championship win. Attended the Spring Caucus online. Attended an Arts Society of Hinton meeting. Attended a HYAC meeting.

Councillor Taylor: Not present.

Councillor Race: Nothing to report.

Councillor LaBerge: Nothing to report.
