Citizens' Minute with Council

Residents are welcome to speak to Council about issues, events, celebrations or concerns during Minute with Council. At the beginning of each regular Council Meeting, Mayor Michaels opens the floor to the public to speak and share with Council members, administration and meeting observers.

Delegations

1. Road Closure Bylaw No. 1176
Minutes available here.

Action Items

1. Draft One-Off Financial Request Policy CS-7201
Council amended section 6.6 to include "subject to the conditions in this policy" and approved the One-Off Financial Requests Policy CS-7201 as amended.

2. Appointment of Municipal Assessor
Council appointed Mr. Warren Powers with Powers & Associates Appraisal Services to the position of Assessor as per Bylaw No. 961 for a one-year term.

3. Hinton Mountain Bike Association Operating Agreement
Council approved the 2023-2025 Operating Agreement with the Hinton Mountain Bike Park Association for operation of the Hinton Mountain Bike Park as presented.

4. Hinton and District Chamber of Commerce Agreement
Council approved the 2023-2025 Services Agreement with the Hinton and District Chamber of Commerce for provision of a Visitor Information Centre as presented.

5. Budget 2023 Document
Council accepted the Budget 2023 document for information.

Council directed Administration to prepare a report on how to utilize the 2022 tax surplus, including off-setting tax revenue in 2023 for the April 11th Committee of the Whole Meeting.

Mayor Marcel Michaels: Attended an Evergreens Foundation meeting.

Councillor Ostashek: Nothing to report.

Councillor Maguhn: Attended a Policing & Emergency Services Meeting and a Pulp Advisory Committee Meeting.

Councillor Haas: Attended a comedy show at the PATH and Battle of the Badges. Attended a Hinton Youth Advisory Council meeting.

Councillor Taylor: Nothing to report.

Councillor Race: Announced details of the Take It or Leave It pilot project and Kick It To The Curb. Attended a Hinton RCMP Town Hall.

Councillor LaBerge: Not present.
