Citizens' Minute with Council

Residents are welcome to speak to Council about issues, events, celebrations or concerns during Minute with Council. At the beginning of each regular Council Meeting, Mayor Michaels opens the floor to the public to speak and share with Council members, administration and meeting observers.

1. Mr. Bernie Kreiner - Thanked Councillors who attended the Food Bank Open House. The Pathway to the Park is at a milestone in preparing for the application, finalizing plans from Safeway to Wild Horse/Kinky Lake Park.

Also seeking political support from Town of Hinton Council with regards to AGLC's approving the relocation of the Camrose Casino.

2. Mr. Hank Smit, Chair for the Town of Hinton and Yellowhead County Library Board spoke to Council about the increased funding they received from the Provincial Budget and will return it to the Town of Hinton.

Library meeting scheduled for June 19th at 5:00 p.m. with an invitation to follow.

Delegations

Presentations are required to be arranged through the Executive Assistant so that presenters can be sure time is set aside for their presentations on the Council agenda. Find out more about how to be a delegation by following this link.

1. S.T.A.R.S. - Presented by Glenda Farnden

Ms. Glenda Farnden presented STARS stats for 2022 and updates from the organization.

2. Forest Heights Fence - Presented by Mr. Walter Woodley

Mr. Walter Woodley presented Council with his request for a fence in around properties at Forest Heights Drive.

Council directed Administration to prepare a briefing on the requirement for a fence between the residential and non-residential properties for this development adjacent to Forest Heights Drive.

Action Items

1. Trails Level of Service Policy CS-7201

Council approved the Trails Level of Service Policy CS-7201 as presented.

2. Bylaw No.1177 Borrowing Line of Credit

Council gave first, second, and third Reading to Bylaw No. 1177, Borrowing Line of Credit to Finance Operating Expenses.

3. West Central Airshed Society Membership

Council approved the Town of Hinton’s 2023 pro-rated membership of $1,250.00 for the West Central Airshed Society.

Councillor Ostashek: Attended a Community Futures West Yellowhead board meeting.

Councillor Maguhn: Commended talent of Break-A-Leg Theatre Group and thanked the PATH at the Guild for their collaboration on the recent Dinner Theatre. Attended a Library Board meeting.

Councillor Haas: Nothing to report.

Councillor Taylor: Nothing to report.

Councillor Race: Attended a Hinton Food Bank Open House.

Councillor LaBerge: Attended a Community Futures West Yellowhead board meeting.
