Advanced Aquatic Course Registration Opens March 1

Registration opens at 5pm on March 1 for Advanced Aquatic Courses at the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre.
National Lifeguard (#7324)
The primary role of a National Lifeguard is the prevention of emergency situations and the timely and effective resolution of emergencies. The NL certification prepares lifeguards to fulfill this role as professional facilitators of safe, enjoyable aquatics.
The NL program develops the basic lifeguarding skills, principles, and decision-making process to help lifeguards evaluate and adapt to different aquatic facilities and emergencies.
Prerequisite: Bronze Cross, current Standard First Aid, and minimum 16 years of age
Where: Peoples Centre, Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre
When: March 14-17 and March 21-24, 4:00 to 9:00 pm

Swim & Lifesaving Instructor (#7325)
Swim Instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating candidates participating in the Swim for Life® and Canadian Swim Patrol programs. The Swim Instructor course prepares Instructors to apply level 1 leadership competencies and strategies while teaching and evaluating.
Lifesaving Instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating candidates participating in the Canadian Swim Patrol, Bronze Medals, Distinction, Boat Rescue and Lifesaving Society CPR programs. The Lifesaving Instructor course prepares Instructors to apply level 1 leadership competencies and strategies while teaching and evaluating. Lifesaving Instructor certification is the prerequisite for other Lifesaving Society instructor certifications. Certification in Alberta and Northwest Territories includes CPR Instructor certification.
Prerequisite: Minimum 16 years old and Bronze Cross or higher (need not be current)

When: March 27-31, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm
