Citizens' Minute with Council

Residents are welcome to speak to Council about issues, events, celebrations or concerns during Minute with Council. At the beginning of each regular Council Meeting, Mayor Michaels opens the floor to the public to speak and share with Council members, administration and meeting observers.

Delegations

Presentations are required to be arranged through the Executive Assistant so that presenters can be sure time is set aside for their presentations on the Council agenda. Find out more about how to be a delegation by following this link.

1. Habitat for Humanity - Presented by Dr. Anne-Marie Reddy, President & CEO

Dr. Anne Marie Reddy and Connie Pitruniak did a presentation on the Habitat for Humanity criteria that help families through affordable homeownership and the communities they are in.

2. Amendment to the West Area Structure Plan Bylaw No. 1117-1 - Presented by Mr. Peter Yackulic, Representing PAR999 Holdings Inc.

Mr. Peter Yackulic and Mr. Brad Stables presented information regarding the amendment to the West Area Structure Plan (WASP) and the draft Concept Plan on behalf of PAR999 Holdings Inc.

3. Academic Update - Presented by Amir Hassan, PAR999 Holdings Inc.

Mr. Amir Hassan, Mr. Peter Planski, Dr. Walter Jamieson, & Ms. Veronical Lyver, presented on behalf of PAR999 Holdings Inc. information that covered academic/economic impact, communication and outreach, a planning & engineering update, and the next steps forward.

Action Items

1. Amendment to the West Area Structure Plan Bylaw No. 1117-1 Second & Third Reading

Council gave second and third reading to the West Area Structure Plan Bylaw No. 1117-1

2. Initial Funding Report for Construction of MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) Cell 8

Council approved funding the additional monies required on the 3-year cell option from reserves.

3. Northern and Regional Economic Development Application Letters of Support (NRED)

Council endorsed a letter of support for the Town’s NRED grant application for the Trails Tourism Project as presented, and voted to issue a letter of support as requested by the Hinton & District Chamber of Commerce in an email dated January 10, 2023, for their NRED grant application as presented.

4. Special Council Meeting - January 24, 2023

Council scheduled a Special Council Meeting on January 24, 2023.

Councillor Taylor: Nothing to report.

Councillor Race: Attended an Open House on Maxwell Lake Boardwalk Rehab.

Councillor LaBerge: Nothing to report.
