Arenas Partially Heated at Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre

Please be advised that heaters are now running in a portion of each of the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre arenas during selective times.

The heaters are being turned on for programming from 4:30pm to 9pm each day in one section in each arena (Bill Thomson Arena and Steve Hotchkiss Arena), illustrated below. This action is made possible by the low outside temperatures that is keeping our ice in good condition.
 
Due to a mechanical issue within the ice plant, the heaters in both the Steve Hotchkiss and Bill Thomson arenas were temporarily turned off in order to maintain ice temperatures and usability for hockey, skating, ringette, etc. The issue has been identified, new parts have been ordered, and the parts will be installed as soon as they arrive, in approximately two to three weeks.

This remedial work remains a priority for the Town. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we persevere to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
