Service Commendation for
Hinton Head Guard
October 3, 2022
The Town of Hinton extends a heartfelt congratulations to Connor Shaw, the Town’s Head Guard – Aquatics Operations & Safety, for receiving a service commendation from the Royal Life Saving Society of Canada.
Every year, the Lifesaving Society honours and recognizes individuals, affiliates, and members who help prevent drowning and water-related injuries in Alberta and the Northwest Territories at their annual Investiture of Lifesaving Honours ceremony.
And this year, Connor will receive a Commonwealth Service Award for his volunteer service in supporting the Society’s humanitarian mandate to prevent drowning. Commonwealth Service Awards recognize a Lifesaving Society volunteer's length of noteworthy service and dedication to the Society's mission and mandate, and Connor’s commendation is for volunteering in Lifesaving Sport.
Connor will be formally commended at the Royal Life Saving Society Investiture of Lifesaving Honours in Edmonton on October 14, hosted by the Lifesaving Society’s Patron, Her Honour, Honourable Salma Lakhani, AOE, B.Sc., Lieutenant Governor of Alberta.
Alexa McEachern, Aquatics Supervisor, said, “I would like to congratulate Connor for this monumental recognition award. Your services are appreciated by all and have not gone unnoticed.”
Deborah Juch, Director of Community Services, said, “Connor’s contribution to the safety and training of Hintonites and pool staff through his work at the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre is an example to all. He is an exceptional colleague and mentor; we’re lucky to have him.”
