Around the World in 5 Days:
Mexico
August 12, 2022
Join us on a journey celebrating the cultures that shape Hinton’s diverse community at a five-day festival, Around the World in Five Days.
In partnership with Discovery Camp, the Government of Canada Department of Heritage is providing our community with this first annual festival designed to engage the youth of our town in embracing the spirit of multiculturalism and giving community members a chance to come together to share their culture and learn about their neighbours’ culture.
Around the World in Five Days will take place at Gordon Moore Memorial Park from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day from August 8 to 12. Each day will focus on a different culture, representative of the wonderful Town of Hinton, and honour that culture with traditional games, crafts, and foods. An announcement will be released regarding weather conditions resulting in relocating the event to the BTA in the Recreation Centre.
TODAY! Friday, August 12: Mexico
For the final day of the festival, we head south to Mexico !
Make your own Pinata and Sombrero, play Mexican Kickball and get to know Mexican Jumping Beans in the morning, then enjoy a lunch from Las Tres Marias.
In the afternoon, take part in a Mexican Hat Dance, snack on churros and tacos, and close the week’s festivities with an epic Fiesta!
Please note activities are aimed for ages 5 to 12, but all are welcome. Children who are not enrolled in Discovery Camp must be accompanied by an adult. For further information and updates, including event times and activity confirmation, sign up for our e-newsletters at www.hinton.ca/notifyme or follow the Town of Hinton and Discovery Camp Facebook pages.
