EDSON FOREST AREA WILDFIRE UPDATE
** Update (10pm)**
EWF069 was detected this evening and is now classified as being held which means that the fire is not expected to grow beyond its current boundaries. It's approximately 2.3 km west of the community of Obed, north of the train tracks and 2.5 km north of Highway 16.
The wildfire was recently re-assessed and is still estimated to be 1.0 ha in size and smouldering in an open area away from standing timber.
There were two helicopters bucketing water on the wildfire and airtankers dropping retardant. 20 firefighters worked with hand tools, water pumps and hose and managed to contain the wildfire. Firefighters will return to the area and search for and extinguish any remaining hotspots until this wildfire is completely extinguished.

EWF069 was detected this evening and is currently burning out of control approximately 2.3 km west of the community of Obed, north of the train tracks and 2.5 km north of Highway 16. The wildfire was recently re-assessed and is still estimated to be 1.0 ha in size and burning in an open area away from standing timber.
There are currently two helicopters bucketing water on the wildfire and airtankers dropping retardant. There are 20 firefighters working with hand tools, water pumps and hose. The fire is now 50% surrounded by water hose and crews are working to extinguish the flames.
This wildfire is currently producing significant smoke which will be noticeable in the surrounding communities and Highway 16.
