Challenge in the Rockies, Bad Girlfriend Roller Skates, and Tzzz Roller Skates in partnership with The Town of Hinton, are bringing the sport of roller-skating to Hinton on June 25th and 26th.
Memories of roller derby for the older generations, the roller discos of our parents, and the skate park of the youth; learn and experience all in this two-day event held at the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreational Centre.
Skate coaches from BC and Alberta will be running classes on learning to skate, roller dance, roller derby and how to use the skate park safely, as well as sessions on skate maintenance and concussion prevention and protocols. All ages and abilities are welcome.
Saturday night will feature an action-packed FULL roller derby game featuring Nuclear Free Roller Derby League from Red Deer and Rated PG Roller Girls from Prince George. Come get your groove on at our all-ages roller disco at 7 and transition to Adult Only at 9. Entry to the Saturday night events is by donation to the Hinton Rotary. There will be a small number of rental skate and safety gear packages available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Bad Girlfriend Skates moved her store to Hinton this past May, and last year’s event brought more than 250 skaters to Hinton to learn from top skaters in Alberta.
