Citizens' Minute with Council

Residents are welcome to speak to Council about issues, events, celebrations or concerns during Minute with Council. At the beginning of each regular Council Meeting, Mayor Michaels opens the floor to the public to speak and share with Council members, administration and meeting observers.

1. Bernie Kreiner, Vice Chairman of the West Yellowhead Trail Society (Pathway to the Park) spoke with a request to Council, authorizing the release of the allocated funds to proceed with planning and design and working through the next steps of this project.

Delegations

Presentations are required to be arranged through the Executive Assistant so that presenters can be sure time is set aside for their presentations on the Council agenda. Find out more about how to be a delegation by following this link.

Action Items

1. Town of Hinton Strategic Plan 2022-2025

Council passed a motion that council and Administration work to enhance relationship with the Provincial Government and that Council adopt the attached “Town of Hinton Strategic Plan 2022-2025” as amended.

2. Regional Assessment Review Board Bylaw No. 1173 & Appointments of Designated Clerk and Chair

Council gave first, second and third reading to the Regional Assessment Review Board Bylaw (No. 1173).
Council voted to appoint Alexa Wade as Hinton’s West Yellowhead Regional Review Board Clerk effective immediately through to April 30, 2023, to carry out the administrative functions of Hinton’s Board activities. Paul Butler was appointed as Designated Chair and Trisha Papke as Designated Clerk for the West Yellowhead Regional Assessment Review Board effective immediately through to April 30, 2023.

3. Proposed 2022 Economic Development Budget Expenditure

Council accepted the 2022 Economic Development Budget Report Update identifying three expenditures as information.

Council Reporting:

Mayor Marcel Michaels: Attended FCM Annual Conference and Trade Show. Attended a meeting regarding provincial policing with Minister Tyler Shandro and neighbouring municipalities. Noted there were 80 applicants for CAO position.

Councillor Ostashek: Not present.

Councillor Maguhn: None.

Councillor Haas: Attended FCM Annual Conference and Trade Show. Announce hiring of Library Manager Shannen Shott.

Councillor Taylor: Attended Seniors Lifetime Achievement Award lunch.

Councillor Race: Not present.

Councillor LaBerge: None.

Interim CAO Paul Hanlan: Noted new Town of Hinton website launching soon.

CORRESPONDENCE

Council accepted the Council Information Package June 1, 2022, as information.
