Weekly Pool Boiler Update
June 18, 2021
Last week the Town of Hinton announced steps currently being taken to repair two of the boilers located at the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre that service the Hot Tub and Play Pool. If you missed that announcement, you can view the CivicSend by following this link: HERE for details.
The Town’s Infrastructure & Development Services Department in conjunction with the Community Services Department are committed to keeping the community up to date on the progress of this work.
On June 17, 2021, WSP engineers were on-site to evaluate possible temporary solutions that may allow the pool basins to be heated using an alternative method. The engineers also evaluated the pool mechanical system to ensure that any proposed temporary pool heating solutions would not cause further strain on other inter-related systems as we await the permanent install of the boilers. The WSP team in conjunction with The Town’s Infrastructure & Development Services Department is simultaneously exploring an expedited procurement process for the appropriate boilers and will also in short order onboard a specialist mechanical contractor with a focus on a shortened construction schedule.
At this time, while the pool facility is open, the Hot Tub and Play Pool remain closed. Further updates will be provided on a weekly basis.
