Introducing the Pretzel
THE PRETZEL – a new and awesome staking track in Hinton!!
In cooperation with Maintenance, Public Works, and Arena staff, our Parks crew members are excited and proud to announce a new initiative for all skaters to enjoy.
Nestled among the trees in the Hinton Campground, located next to the playground at the Hinton Centre on Switzer Drive, residents can now find a 600 meter ice track!!
Here's some key important information:
Open as long as the weather conditions allow
Free to use
Area is for skating only; please do not walk on the track
Picnic tables are available; users are requested to bring own hand sanitizer
No washrooms are available
No pets are permitted; this restriction preserves skate track conditions and user safety
Use at your own risk to self and equipment - tree debris and pebbles could be on the track
Please wait after fresh snowfalls until the snow is cleared and after new floods (water/soft ice) to use
Users are asked to park in the playground parking lot;
Come and check out this magical experience!
Note: please respect COVID-19 restrictions and do not gather in groups.
It can be busy out there at certain times, so maybe venture out to a different location or find a quieter time in the day for you or your household.
Don't forget - in addition to the Pretzel, there are other outdoor skating opportunities including the outdoor rinks at the Town-maintained Erith Park and Kinsmen Park, as well as at the volunteer-maintained Maxwell Lake oval (learn more here).
Watch for more information on arenas in ComServ tomorrow.
