Trans Mountain Signs Community Benefit Agreement with the Town of Hinton 

Trans Mountain and the Town of Hinton are pleased to announce a Community Benefit Agreement that will see a $250,000 investment from Trans Mountain towards amenity enhancements for the Hinton Mountain Bike Park and the Hinton Disc Golf Course.   
 
The proposed amenity enhancements include a 50-vehicle parking lot, which will provide much needed recreational parking for both the Hinton Mountain Bike Park and the burgeoning Hinton Disc Golf Course. The new area expands on-site parking, alleviating strain on available space and provides a safe area for residents to park their vehicles.
“We are pleased to provide funding for these amenity enhancements to the Town of Hinton. It will provide local and direct benefits to the community and give more access to parks and trails, and the disc golf course. It’s important for us to ensure communities we operate in – and that are impacted by construction – are acknowledged and are supported. We value these relationships along our pipeline corridor” says Siobhan Vinish, Vice President, Public Affairs, Trans Mountain Corporation.

Using these funds, previously committed to as part of our partnership, to complete a community asset that serves multiple recreation attractions is a beautiful opportunity” says Town of Hinton Mayor Marcel Michaels. “The project being funded will support an engaged and growing section of the community. Our residents and visitors will enjoy interfacing with our natural bounty, which is powerful – this is an example of capitalizing on opportunities and working together for the benefit of our entire community.” 

Trans Mountain values the relationships it has built with communities along the pipeline corridor over its more than 65-year history. We have signed Community Benefit Agreements along 95 per cent of the pipeline route, which help fund education and training opportunities, investment in local infrastructure and park and trail improvement projects.  
 
The Town of Hinton is part of Trans Mountain’s Yellowhead construction area that includes about 285 kilometres of pipeline construction. Trans Mountain began construction at four pump stations in the region earlier this spring and recently completed the horizontal directional drill (HDD) at Hardisty Creek. Right-of-way preparation continues southwest of the Town of Hinton.
