Town of Hinton Event Support

The Town of Hinton is proud of the large number of events held in our community by volunteers, non-profits, service clubs, and businesses alike. To offer assistance to all of these groups equally, the Town offers a number of supports – and all it takes is filling in one form! Visit Hinton.ca/Events to be featured on the calendar, or complete event planning checklists so you can have all the important things squared away ahead of time.

I’m hosting an event – what’s my first step?
Visit Hinton.ca/Events. That page contains links to live and printable forms, separated into different focuses of facilities for your convenience.

Why are there different forms?
Special or community events, sports and tournaments, and aquatic events each require a particular set of preparations and challenges to be navigated. Each form is individually tailored to consider the relevant concerns and requirements to consider to make your event a success.

This all seems intimidating – is there someone who can help us?
The Events Coordinator is absolutely here to help. Send an email to events@hinton.ca, call 780-865-6055 or submit a form, and Don will be notified and respond to you directly.

Are there any other supports available?
Three other great resources to use in throwing your event are the Community Calendar, Minute with Council, and the Volunteer Centre.

Community Calendar
The award-winning Town of Hinton website offers a fully functioning calendar, which is also available through the Town of Hinton app! There’s no charge to submit your event to the calendar, and any resident can check the calendar, subscribe to the different calendar topics, and view the thousands of events listed on the calendar any time of day via hinton.ca/calendar

Through recent improvements to the Town of Hinton Calendar, events are now integrating where possible with the Google event protocol – meaning if you list your event on the Town Website, and someone uses Google to search for events in Hinton, yours will be listed, showing details without any further action from the user.

Minute with Council/Delegations
Think Council should know about your event? Make sure they do by presenting, either as a delegation or during Minute with Council! Presenting to Council ensures they are aware of your event, and includes your event in the Council Recordings, which are hosted on our website. Any citizen can attend Town Council Meetings and stand up to speak during Minute with Council, sharing information with the elected officials. You can also register to be a delegation to council; this adds the benefit of your information being included in the agenda package and gives you more time to speak, or share a presentation. Find out how to be a delegation by visiting Hinton.ca/BeADelegation

Volunteer Centre
Having trouble securing the volunteers you need to hold your event? The friendly staff at our Volunteer Centre can help! Lisa can help connect you with volunteers in the community, in addition to a wide range of other supports to help grow your non-profit like accessing the grant database, renting banners, and utilizing FCSS’ library of resources. The Volunteer Centre is half of Hinton Connects, which works to build the capacity of non-profits. Find out more on the Hinton Connects website, Hinton.ca/HintonConnects

Events are a huge part of what makes a community special, and the Town of Hinton is very proud to offer these supports to area event hosts!
