The Town is urging parents and guardians to keep children away from municipal snow dump locations. We have received reports that children have been digging holes and playing on these snow piles, creating a serious safety risk.
Snow collected from roadways can contain hazardous materials such as needles, salt, gas, and diesel, making the piles unsafe for any kind of play. Additionally, digging into the piles can create unstable cavities that may collapse without warning, potentially trapping or injuring a child.
Heavy equipment operators frequently visit these sites to dump additional snow or push existing piles. Children playing behind or inside snowbanks may not be visible to operators, increasing the risk of accidental injury.
For the safety of your children, please ensure they stay clear of all snow dump locations.
Current snow dump sites are located at:
- Mary Reimer Park
- Robb Road
