Effective October 19 the Parks, Recreation & Culture Department will take on a new structure. Consistent with many other recent efforts to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness within the organization, roles within this department have been re-aligned to focus on providing exceptional core services to our community. Hans vanKlaveren has accepted the primary leadership position of Manager for the department, while James Kwasny has accepted the position of Arena & Parks Supervisor.
Hans and his family moved to Hinton from the Netherlands over 7 years ago and has since served the community as the Town’s Recreation Centre Supervisor. His many years of knowledge and experience range from managing a team of post secondary instructors in the Netherlands, to leading the Recreation Centre team in Hinton, make him a continued proven asset. His positive spirit and passion is rooted both in the workplace and as an active, creative and engaged member of the community.
James Kwasny has 29 years of service with the Town of Hinton, first starting as a seasonal parks labourer, before advancing in roles such as Senior Arena Parks Operator, and Lead Hand Operations. Demonstrating his lifelong learning abilities, leadership and “let’s get-it-done” work style, James was most recently serving as the Town’s Operations Foreman. His solution-focused attitude and pride in his work will continue to serve Hinton well.
These employees are no strangers to each other, the organization or the community and they are excited to be working together towards continued positive change in the workplace and enhanced customer service to the community.
