School’s Out Celebration – Friday, June 27 at the Rec Centre
The Town of Hinton invites all school-aged children and youth to celebrate the end of the school year with a full day of free activities at the Community Recreation Centre on Thursday, June 27.
Whether you’re into games, crafts, sports, climbing, or swimming, there’s something for everyone at this drop-in event. No registration is required—just show up, bring your friends, and get ready to kick off summer break with a bang.

Event Time:
10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
What’s Happening:
10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. – Arts & Crafts Station (Foyer & Outdoor Area)
- Sidewalk Chalk Art: Use provided chalk to decorate the outdoor walkways
- Giant Butcher Paper & Markers: Draw, doodle, or write your name, summer goals, or positive messages. These creations will be displayed in the Recreation Centre Hall of Fame for one week.
- Art supplies must be signed out from the Customer Service Counter
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Tabletop Games (Foyer)
- Enjoy casual morning games and connect with friends
- Games include Giant Jenga and Giant Connect Four
- All equipment available at the Customer Service Counter
12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Complimentary Pizza Lunch (Foyer and Outside)
- Free pizza available while supplies last
- Options include cheese, vegetarian, and pepperoni
- Beverages provided thanks to a generous donation from Safeway
- Lunch is courtesy of Domino’s Pizza
1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. – Dodgeball (Squash Court 1)
- Ages 7–12: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Ages 13–18: 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Dodgeballs provided in partnership with St. Gregory School
- Regular supervision will be provided by staff
- Note: Squash Court 1 will be closed to the public from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. – Bouldering Wall Open Session (Climbing Wall Area)
- Casual climbing sessions for youth of all skill levels
- A waiver must be signed, and wrist stamps must be collected from the Customer Service Counter before participation
- Regular walkthroughs and safety checks will be completed by staff
- This area is closed to the public during this time
2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – Walk on Water Pool Feature
- Try your balance skills on the floating “Walk on Water” mats
- Available during public swim in the main pool area
4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. – Family-Friendly Movie Swim (Pool)
- Enjoy a relaxing swim while watching a movie from the pool deck
- Float, swim, or lounge poolside while enjoying a film suitable for all ages
Additional Notes:
- All activities are drop-in and free of charge
- No registration is required
- Some areas of the facility will be temporarily closed to the public to allow for safe youth programming
- Supervision will be provided in designated activity zones
- All children under the age of seven must be accompanied by a guardian while using the pool
