Through the Coats for Kids and the Community program, we aim to supply FREE winter jackets to children and adults of all ages. If you or someone you know needs a coat, you can pick one up through October and November at FCSS and the Library
As winter approaches, the Town of Hinton is dedicated to ensuring that no child or individual in Hinton goes without a warm coat. Through the Coats for Kids and the Community program, we aim to supply FREE winter jackets to children and adults of all ages.
Need a Coat?
If you or someone you know needs a coat, you can pick one up through the months of October and November at one of the following locations:
- Hinton FCSS (821 Switzer Drive), Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Hinton Municipal Library (803 Switzer Drive), Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, and on weekends from noon to 4:00 PM.
While we try to provide a wide selection of sizes and accessories, availability depends on community donations.
How to Donate:
We gladly accept clean, gently used, outgrown, or new winter outerwear for adults and children. Monetary donations are also welcome, helping us meet specific requests or fill gaps in certain sizes. Items we’re looking for include:
- Men's, women's, and children's winter coats
- Toques, mitts, and scarves (adult and children’s sizes)
- Snow pants (adult and children’s sizes)
*Please note that we do not accept non-winter clothing or outerwear. All donations can be dropped off at the FCSS office at 821 Switzer Drive.
Coats for Kids and the Community is a total win-win! Less waste, more love! So go ahead—donate to give a coat a second adventure, and by grabbing a secondhand coat, you’re not just keeping warm—you’re giving pre-loved items a chance to shine again!
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 780-817-4881.
Collaboration is key in making this initiative a success! This program wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our local partners, including the Hinton Municipal Library, Hinton Share Shop, Hinton Employment and Learning Centre, and Neighbourlink.
Together, as a community, we can ensure that everyone stays warm this winter!
