FIRE BAN – Town of Hinton

As of today, May 22, 2019 at 3:15 pm the Town of Hinton has issued a full fire ban.  This ban mirrors the Provincial Fire Ban announcement today for the Edson Forest Area, which includes the areas surrounding the townsite (learn more about Provincial Fire Bans at the Alberta Fire Ban website)
 
The ban prohibits the use of each of the following:

• Wood fires on residential properties and in campgrounds, including recreational fire pits,
• Fires using charcoal briquettes,
• Turkey fryers, and
• Tiki torches

This does not apply to portable propane fire pits, gas or propane stoves and barbecues, catalytic or infrared style heaters, or fires contained in industrial facilities or on industrial sites that have been approved.
 
The situation will be reviewed as conditions change.
