Measuring Outcomes in the Non-profit Sector

Newer and less familiar terminology, but increasingly seeping its way into general practice are the words "outcomes", "measures", and "evaluation". Organizations are being asked to show "proof" that their services and programs create real and positive change. Surveys and questionnaires are popular methods for service users to self-report their opinions.

Green Philosophy

Going green is a modern term, but it simply means caring for our planet and making conscious decisions to limit our use of renewable and non-renewable natural resources. It means changing our behaviour for the sake of our future. If non-profit organizations could bring forth this issue at the board table, and approve some actions to be more environmentally-friendly, then all of our individual actions will add up collectively. A pro-active and voluntary attitude toward conservation and pollution-reduction is a worthy philosophy for non-profit organizations to discuss and adopt.
