In this pandemic event, social connections are more important than ever.
But finding them is also more difficult than ever.
That’s why we’ve worked to reorient our Friendly Visitor Program to Friendly Callers!
The Friendly Visitor Program connects caring volunteers with individuals who could benefit from regular social visits. Through conversations, attending events, or participating in activities together, a trusting relationship is formed. This can increase feelings of hope, worth, and connectedness.
Social isolation can contribute significantly to negative health outcomes. The Friendly Visitor Program aims to ensure all members of the community feel connected.
Volunteer Companions will be screened and trained to ensure their suitability for the program and to ensure that a compatible match is made with a Recipient. Regular communication with the program coordinator, training, and workshops will ensure volunteers are set up for success.
Volunteer Companions have time to share, have a caring and friendly disposition, and have a desire to be of service to the community. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
Recipients are members of our community who may benefit from regular social visits. A Recipient may be a newcomer to Hinton, a parent, a person with mobility challenges, an elderly individual, or any other person who may feel disconnected from the community.
If this sounds like you or someone you know, please contact us to discuss how the Friendly Visitor Program could help. We look forward to hearing from you!
