Swim Schedule
Please Note: The Hinton Recreation Centre Pool Facility will be closed from September 5 through to October 2 for annual maintenance.

Rec Centre Staff have struck an agreement for our users with our neighbours in Edson, Grande Cache, and Jasper. Any Hinton Pass Holders will be permitted to use these facilities at no extra charge, although you must have you pass when you visit. As well, for the many Hinton residents who enjoy aquafit activities, Jasper's aquafit class will be welcoming patrons into their classes for only an additional $2.43.

For our users convenience, programming schedules for Jasper and Edson's facilities have been made available here and here, respectively.

The Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre's aquatic facility consists of a main 25m pool, shallow play pool, hot tub and steam room. The main 25m pool has a 6 lane capacity, slide, tarzan rope, rock climbing wall and is proud host to many inflatable toys.

What Your Toddler Should Wear

All tots younger than 35 months are required to wear a swim diaper while using our facility. Pool pants may be purchased at the Customer Service Desk. Parents, please remember to stay within arm's reach of your child at all times.

Recommended Swim Test

The Lifesaving Society's recommended swim test is a screening tool used at our facility to determine who can use the deep part of our pool without a life jacket or personal flotation device (PFD). It is to the discretion of the lifeguard(s) on duty as to who must perform the swim test for admission to the deep water. The swim test consists of the following sequence of skills:
  1. Safe entry into shallow water
  2. Swim 25 metres without stopping or resting in any style
  3. Exit the pool from deep water
  4. Jump (foot-first entry) into deep water
  5. Recover and tread water for 30 seconds, maintaining mouth and nose above the water at all times

Volunteer Opportunities

There are volunteer opportunities available at our facility. If you are interested
in becoming a potential volunteer, please contact the Aquatic Coordinator
